About us

Our laboratory newly started on November 2011. We are interested in the interface between polymeric materials and biological systems. We now focus on novel functions and applications of biomacromolecules such as peptides, proteins, polysaccharides, and viruses, based on polymer chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and bionanotechnologies. Our research goal is the fundamental contribution to polymeric and materials’ science for biomedical, environmental, energetic, and manufacturing fields. Current research projects are followings:

  1. Polysaccharide nanocrystal as novel hydrolytic catalysts
  2. Identification and application of polymer-binding peptides
  3. Fabrication and characterization of virus-based soft materials
  4. Aqueous dispersion and functionalization of boron nitride nanotubes
